Toronto's Cultural Hotspot showcases emerging Scarborough artists

Two upcoming Cultural Hotspot signature projects will highlight emerging Scarborough artists. One of the events will give youth artists and entrepreneurs a chance to win cash prizes.  
 
The NEXT Level youth arts and Cultural Hotspot celebration will be held on Saturday, October 25 from 1 to 8 p.m. The closing celebration will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Warden Woods Community Centre, 74 Firvalley Ct.
 
Saturday's Cultural Hotspot event, produced in partnership with Manifesto Community Projects and UNITY Charity, highlights the next generation of young artists in south Scarborough. The event will begin with workshops and networking events from 1 to 5 p.m., leading into an evening showcase and Cultural Hotspot closing celebration that will feature poetry performances by R.I.S.E, a dance demo by Classic Roots, a street dance battle, and music by Tanika Charles and the Wonderfuls. 
 
The other event – Youth Arts Pitch Contest will be held on Thursday, October 30 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Scarborough Civic Centre, 150 Borough Dr.
 
This Cultural Hotspot event is produced in partnership with Art Reach Toronto. Eight youth artists and arts entrepreneurs will go head-to-head, pitching their project ideas to a panel of judges for an opportunity for $14,000 in cash prizes. 
 
From May through October, the Cultural Hotspot program shines a spotlight on the arts, culture and community in south Scarborough. This City- and partner-produced initiative features a series of signature projects designed to inspire residents and visitors to discover the Hotspot neighbourhoods.
