Toronto Public Service exceeds its United Way fundraising goal

The City of Toronto announced another record fundraising total of $1.65 million in support of United Way Toronto & York Region at an event held today at The 519 community centre. City employees surpassed their annual campaign fundraising goal, set at $1.35 million for 2016, for the 16th consecutive year. This year's total represents the highest amount ever raised by the Toronto Public Service and is a four percent increase over the previous record total of $1.58 million established in 2015.

The City of Toronto's 2017 preliminary operating and capital budgets were presented at the Budget Committee meeting today, and members of the public are encouraged to learn more about the budget process and the 2017 preliminary budgets. A range of tools and resources are available, from high level summary documents, infographics and learning brochures to briefing notes, presentations and detailed budget notes, at http://www.toronto.ca/budget2017.

Nuit Blanche Toronto announces its 2016 economic impact and event's curators for 2017

The City of Toronto has announced the economic impact of Nuit Blanche Toronto 2016, Toronto's free annual all-night celebration of contemporary art. Produced by the City of Toronto in collaboration with Toronto's arts community, Nuit Blanche 2016 transformed the city on October 1 with the talents of more than 300 local, national and international artists and curators. Initial details for 2017 are also being announced at this time.

City of Toronto launches tax-supported budgets for 2017

Toronto City Manager Peter Wallace, Chief Financial Officer and Deputy City Manager Rob Rossini and Executive Director of Financial Planning Josie La Vita presented the City of Toronto's 2017 preliminary tax-supported budgets to the City of Toronto's Budget Committee today. The budgets will be reviewed and debated by Budget and Executive committees before being finalized and approved by Council at its meeting of February 15 and 16.
