Toronto Public Health confirms this year's first positive mosquito pools for West Nile Virus

Toronto Public Health has received a lab report indicating two mosquito pools in Toronto have tested positive for West Nile Virus. This is the first positive test for West Nile Virus in Toronto for 2016.

Mayor Tory moves to reduce ticket lineups and make it easier to visit Toronto Island Park

To shorten lineups and make it easier to visit Toronto Island, Mayor John Tory announced a new ticket purchase option for the Toronto Island Ferry through popular mobile app, Ritual, that will increase the number of passengers pre-purchasing tickets online for the month of August. The City is also providing additional signage and staff to make it easier for passengers to access express kiosks.

Work starting soon on installation of Bloor Street cycle tracks

The City of Toronto will be installing cycle tracks (bike lanes) on Bloor Street from Shaw Street to Avenue Road as a pilot project to enhance cycling infrastructure and safety for all road users.

City of Toronto tool used for improving child care quality receives scholarly endorsement

A recently published article in the scholarly journal Early Education and Development commends the Toronto Children's Services' Assessment for Quality Improvement (AQI) tool as an accurate way to determine quality in early learning and child care settings. That endorsement makes the AQI the only peer-reviewed and validated improvement tool for child care developed in Canada.
