Great golf still available across Toronto at cheaper rates

The City of Toronto’s five golf courses are still in full swing. As the golf season winds down, golfers can still fit in those last rounds of golf while enjoying cooler temperatures and beautiful fall colours. If that’s not incentive enough, beginning on October 11, all courses will offer discounted rates on adult 18-hole rounds. (Discounts vary, depending on the course.)

City of Toronto-appointed jury chooses artwork from internationally-acclaimed artist for public realm project

As part of the City of Toronto's Carlaw + Dundas Community Initiative project, a 9.2 metre-high obelisk to be created by internationally-acclaimed Toronto artist and designer Pierre Poussin has been chosen as the centrepiece of a new public realm project.

Mayor John Tory to present Paul Beeston with the Key to the City

Tomorrow, Mayor John Tory will formally present the Key to the City to Paul Beeston on the green roof at Toronto City Hall at 2:30 p.m. Beeston served nearly two decades as the president and CEO of the Toronto Blue Jays and is the first sports executive to be recognized with a key. Mayor Tory had previously announced he was awarding the Key to the City to Paul Beeston on October 26, 2015.

Mayor Tory and Councillor Bailão host Toronto Housing Summit to find solutions to city’s housing shortage

Today, Mayor John Tory and Toronto's Housing Advocate, Councillor Ana Bailão (Ward 18 Davenport), hosted a Toronto Housing Summit with more than 200 participants to help generate concrete housing solutions to help shape the federal government's National Housing Strategy. Mayor Tory was joined by Jean-Yves Duclos, Canada's Minister of Families, Children and Social Development; Chris Ballard, Ontario's Minister of Housing and Minister Responsible for the Poverty Reduction Strategy; as well as developers, tenants, co-ops and non-profit agencies.

City of Toronto taking action to build more affordable housing

Mayor John Tory and Councillor Ana Bailão (Ward 18 Davenport), Council's Housing Advocate, today announced that the City of Toronto will make 640 Lansdowne Ave. available to private and non-profit developers to build affordable housing. This is part of the City’s Open Door Program, which streamlines the approval process, increases City financial incentives and releases more surplus public land for development.
